Design Intent is to create a residential commune consisting of different designs and area options of exclusive bungalows reflecting the changing lifestyle demands of the young professional who has traveled all over the world. The concept is to create a functional design, with the client and end user’s satisfaction as the main criteria for planning and to derive a low-rise bungalow neighborhood concept to create a modern village akin to one in developed countries. The other important criterion is to keep the continuity and cadence of the landscaping undisturbed and; more importantly, to create a strong sense of community by this merging of private and public space.
While working out the site layout, the units are arranged around meandering streets creating an old-world charm. The private lots are not fenced in front but have a frontage of green lawn abutting the street. The road pattern is interesting with a pedestrian pathway along the street. Winding streets offer varied views and ensure spatial variation. The streets are detailed with carefully worked out edges, signage, lighting and pickets.
The layout consists of 20 different types of bungalow designs. Each unit type is carefully worked out with respect to circulation, light and cross ventilation as well as privacy from adjoining units. Each bungalow has its own private backyard, which is the owner’s pride. This backyard provides an extension of the living area for a barbeque and sit-out. The bungalows are designed individually and each requirement is detailed out for the owner. The bungalows range from 1800 sq. ft. to 3000 sq. ft. in area.
The clubhouse projects a simple ‘L’ shaped plan with recreation area, gym and changing rooms facing a swimming pool. The club house again is visualized to create a rural charm.
Eco-friendly measures are implemented, such as rain water harvesting, Sewage treatment plant, grey water used for landscaping, minimum cutting and filling of site, use of fly- ash bricks, indigenous plants for landscaping, solar panels for water heating, common UGWT & ESR provided instead of individual overhead tanks, vermin-culture pit in each bungalow and CFL street lights. All existing trees are incorporated in the landscaping.
