This project is a public plaza fronting the Pune Municipal Corporation building. The landscape is contemporary design with a strong focus on symmetry and formal balance that complements the existing building.
The designers took cognizance of the magnificent existing Ashoka trees on the existing land parcel and integrated them with the new design. These trees act as focal points for people to gather. The plaza is bounded on all four sides by a pathway.
This external pathway is lined on two opposite sides by shrubs with small sitting nooks containing open benches. These sitting areas are separated from the external pathway with small trees. These sitting nooks are accessed by a semicircular pathway that intersects the external pathway on the same side at adjacent corners.
The space in between these semicircular pathways contains a lawn area where people congregate. A statue on a pedestal in the centre of one side of the space forms the focus of the setting.
