AVA was engaged for Architectural and Interior Design services as well as landscape and project management. The Chndawarkar house is designed for the owner and his four daughters. The Chandawarkar House is a multi- storied bungalow for a family of four siblings and the parents. The family house has a sleek yet traditional look. Each apartment has a large sit-out. The daughter being married and settled elsewhere, the apartments are to be hired out to ex-pats for some years and had to be similar in areas. So, the interiors of three floors are done in contemporary European style.
The fourth floor is occupied by the owner and designed to cater to his requirements. The ‘barsati’ on the terrace is the highlight of the house and enjoyed by the owner very much. The approach to interior design of the fourth floor is based on the ‘Peshwa’ style. Arches and decorative elements are used throughout. Motifs and inlay work in wood and inlay flooring are detailed out to give a rich ambience.
